The Way To Add Composite Roof Shingles

Composite roof shingles – are the most popular roofing material in the United States. they are relatively inexpensive, durable and relatively easy to install. Composite shingles have a core of felt made from wood fibers and is covered with asphalt with mineral granules embedded to protect from the sun and weather.

Install the first row of composite shingles in the bottom corner of the roof. Start with a series of half-section of shingles, facing the cutting edge of single outward. Place a leveling tool against the top edge of the gravel so that it is flush. Nail down half the parts of the composite roof shingles with a hammer and roofing nails. Hammer two nails in each shingle. Insert nails ¾ inch from the edge of the single, but far enough up that the next single will cover the nail.

Cut 6 inches of the first composite roof shingles with tin snips. Overlap the first single with an inch of the next single. Flatten the bottom edge of the shingle with the top tabs into a single in the previous row. Hammer roofing nails in each shingle as you proceed in this way. Trim away the overlapping shingles on the edge of the roof with tin snips; the edge of the shingles project should be 2 inches longer than the cornice.
